Web Design in Bassett, Kansas

Why a Bassett website can’t be generic

Since 1903, Bassett has built up more than a century of local history. In a place with that much history, many customers have used the same plumber, accountant or bakery for years, and a newer business has to earn trust one job at a time. New in town? Then the website has to do what years of reputation does for the older names: explain exactly what you do and for whom.

Bassett’s small businesses and what their websites need

Bassett shares ZIP code 66749 with the surrounding area, where 249 employer businesses were counted in 2023. A sample of that count, and what each kind of business needs online:

• Pharmacies (5): hours, services such as vaccines, the insurance you accept and a map.
• Full-service restaurants (10): the current menu with prices, hours, the address with a map and photos of real dishes.
• Hotels and motels (4): rooms, photos, location and a contact form, so travelers can compare you outside the booking apps.
• Insurance agencies (10): auto, home and business coverage on separate pages with a contact form for quotes.

In Allen County, the Census counted 353 businesses with employees and 821 without a payroll in 2023; the second group is where a simple, affordable website changes the most. Compared with the U.S. as a whole, Allen County leans toward durable goods wholesalers (16 establishments, 1.7 times the national share). For them, trade buyers want catalogs and terms, and the website should show product lines, brands carried, service area and how to open an account. Each of these businesses competes for the same search: someone in Bassett typing what they need and picking from the results that look trustworthy.

Sizing up the Bassett market

Paperwork and rules for Kansas businesses online

A website doesn’t need a special license, but the business behind it follows the same Kansas rules as any other.

• A business that owns or licenses computerized data with personal information must investigate any security breach and, if misuse has occurred or is reasonably likely, notify the affected Kansas residents as soon as possible. K.S.A. 50-7a02 (Security breach; requirements)
• Kansas levies a state sales tax of 6.5% on retail sales of tangible personal property and taxable services, and cities and counties add local sales taxes on top of it. Kansas Department of Revenue

This is general information, not legal advice; check with the Kansas agencies, Allen County, the city of Bassett or an attorney.
